Policronica is where creativity meets craftsmanship. Originally founded in 2009 under the name Studio Combo, Policronica is an architecture studio with a presence in Paris, Lisbon, and most recently, Rio Maior—home to the Fábrica Policronica, developed as part of the Etosoto initiative.
With a broad and multidisciplinary foundation, our expertise spans architecture, design, engineering, fabrication, and construction, enabling us to deliver integrated and innovative solutions across a wide range of projects.
At Policronica, we embrace the principles of a polychronic society, allowing us to explore limitless possibilities within our projects. We take pride in honoring every stage of the fabrication and construction process, seamlessly integrating multiple disciplines to create innovative design solutions.
Our multidisciplinary studio is made up of individuals with diverse skills and talents. Together, we focus on crafting exceptional projects centered around public spaces and cultural experiences. Our collective expertise fuels our passion for creating bold, meaningful, and distinctive designs.
Since establishing our factory in 2020, we have specialized in the art of wood design and architecture. Our dedication to this timeless material has led us to develop forward-thinking approaches, resulting in striking and sustainable creations that integrate harmoniously with their surroundings.
The studio’s material-driven approach has been widely acknowledged by the international design and architecture community, with projects featured and awarded by platforms such as ArchDaily, Dezeen, and Architectural Digest. Notably, the studio was honored with the Building of the Year award by ArchDaily in both 2024 and 2025 and received a Dezeen Award in the Hospitality category.
